Retirement is something that requires years of hard work, saving, and planning. Michigan seniors for decades made retirement plans with the understanding that the state would not tax their pension funds. Rep. Glenn supports repealing the ill-advised Pension Tax.
- Each year, the state takes away $300 million in Michiganders’ hard earned money through the pension tax.
- People pay different amounts of taxes in their pension tax based on the year they were born. This is unequal and unfair to those who have to pay more simply because they were born a different year than others.
- Repealing the pension tax is for all jobs, not just certain industries or sectors. This repeal helps to keep more money in everyone’s retirement funds.
